About Fix Up Projects

Fix Up projects are a natural extension of Clean Up events. They are all about shifting the emphasis from ‘cleaning up' to ‘fixing up' and go over and above of what can be achieved during a regular Clean Up event.

Through Fix Up projects Communities address the causes of environmental problems rather than their symptoms, and develop effective and sustainable solutions for long-term environmental benefit.

Examples of Fix Up projects include tree planting, restoration of native vegetation and degraded natural areas, restoring waterways, recycling programs, establishment of composting facilities and installation and management of waste collection facilities in public places.

Along with sustainable environmental improvements, Fix Up projects help promote changes in community attitude and behaviour, encourage community participation in long-term practical activities and can also assist in developing ongoing partnerships between government, businesses and community organisations.
