Clean Up Australia Day 2008 Results

Clean Up Australia Day 2008 was a huge success with over 6000 sites across the country cleaning up a staggering 7000 tones of rubbish!

According to a 1000 person national online poll with results compared to the Bureau of Statistics' national demographic statistics, 70 per cent of the population were aware of Clean Up Australia Day and took part in the event.

Well done and a big thank you to the estimated 800,000 volunteers who cleaned up their local parks, waterways, beaches, bushland and suburbs.

A particular thank you to all the dedicated and hard working site coordinators who organised their local clean ups so well, with limited resources.

Local councils provide an invaluable service to the campaign as well, most of which collect all the rubbish!

Clean Up Australia would also like to thank our Sponsors and Partners of Clean Up Australia Day 2008. Their support makes the event possible. Read more about our Sponsors and Partners here.

You can still register for a Clean Up event here.

The next Clean Up Australia Day event will be held on 1st March 2009.
